We were due to meet with the Suzuki press team on Tuesday for the official send off photo shoot however we’ve hit a slight issue which is likely to cost us a few days on the departure date. The nightmares of being stuck in the middle of Mongolia trying to bump start the bikes all got too much for us and after expressing our concerns, Suzuki GB were kind enough to supply us with some kick start kits. For any one planing on fitting a kick start to a DRZ 400, check out this must read post on the adventure rider forum here. It contains critical info not included in the standard paper work supplied with the kit.
In hindsight it was a school boy error but we attempted to use the lugs on the clutch basket on Pete’s bike to keep it positioned whilst we tightened the main clutch bolt…
… inevitably, one of them snapped. Suzuki are on the case and we hope this will cost us no more than a couple of days on the departure date.
Anyone else see the irony here? 🙂
